so Fryman DID have surgery sometime in December.
Some here have posted that Travis needs "Tommy John" Surgery.
One "positive" note...According to a Paul Hoynes column, Travis claimed he could do 20 push-ups within a week or two after arm/shoulder surgery...
"It doesn't even feel like I had surgery"...
So, Travis should be re-injured in no time!

I'd be willing to bet that Fryman has a very good year.
He was never injured until his second year with Cleveland, then came back and had his best year ever in 2000.
Fryman is well known as a dedicated athlete and fiend about personal conditioning who hates to sit on the bench.
My guess is he'll bat .290 with 20+ homers, 30+ doubles in 150 games, unless Cholly makes him sit so we can watch Branyan set the new strikeout record.

I agree completely. I've been amazed by how quickly many have given up on the guy. Makes you understand why so many players don't want to play hurt.

Teach, I'm not following your reasoning.
Playing injured, if it prevents you from healing, is pretty darned stupid.
If playing injured makes your injury get worse, it's incredibly stupid.
Travis should have only played if he could heal while playing...
I have no idea if he did or not.
I'm sure Branyan ain't too happy, he was doing pretty good until Travis came back...although some were complaining that Branyan's fielding was too poor and that he was just starting to slump around the time Travis arrived in May early June.
Perhaps Travis was rushed back by management, or fear that Branyan might make him expendable, who knows?
Travis sure looked good on his rehab assignment in the minors.
I'm not sure anyone's given up on the guy, I think there is confusion over whether Travis did the long term medical procedure to get better, or a temporary shorter term procedure.

What's to follow? A guy plays while not 100%, his performance suffers, people think he sucks.

He had arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder, which he injured when trying to throw, compensating for the elbow. The elbow is still not fixed, and neither is our 3rd base problem.

Fryman does need TJ surgery to correct his elbow problem but has said numerous times he will not miss a full season at this stage of his career wich is the timetable for that kind of injury. I look for more of the same numbers that he put up last year as long as his elbow is in that kind of shape.

Ironically, if you consider last season a "wash"...Travis could have been back by either the beginning or no later than sometime in May of this year if he had had the surgery right away.
Can the required elbow surgery go wrong?
And how close to "healed" can Travis be without this Surgery?
